Dermal Fillers

Radiesse

Radiesse is a collagen-stimulating filler composed of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres in a gel suspension.  CaHA is a biodegradable biocompatible substance that is found in our bones.  Upon injecting Radiesse, its gel suspension provides volume and an instant lift to the skin.  As the gel disintegrates, the CaHA particles remain in our dermis, stimulating natural collagen production over 12-18 months.

Besides treating wrinkles, Radiesse can be placed in temples, smile lines, cheeks, sides of our faces by the jawline, and chin to help enhance facial features or improve facial shapes.  Diluted Radiesse can be placed in the neck, décolleté , arms, and thighs to prevent and improve the look of crepey and sagging skin in these areas.

Sculptra

Sculptra has been called "The Liquid Facelift" for good reason. The Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) microspheres are suspended in a mixture of normal saline and lidocaine. The PLLA liquid suspension can be injected throughout the face in various vector directions. These PLLA particles stimulate our skin to produce collagen over 2 years. For optimal results, a series of 3 sessions is recommended. Sculptra is ideal for people who want to prevent wrinkles without altering the proportions of their facial features or changing their facial shape.

Besides treating wrinkles, Sculptra can be placed in the neck, décolleté, arms, and thighs to prevent and improve the look of crepey and sagging skin in these regions. It can also be used to improve the appearance of cellulite.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in our skin that helps it retain moisture and volume.  Naturally, dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid in a gel suspension were some of the first FDA approved injectable treatments for wrinkles.  Their use has gained popularity over the last 15 years and along with Botox have moved the practice of aesthetic medicine toward nonsurgical minimally invasive direction.

Hyaluronic acid fillers help treat wrinkles and rejuvenate our skin while offering a natural look.  They are very versatile and can be placed in areas, such as nose bridges, temples, tear troughs, cheeks, lips, and chins to enhance our facial features and improve our facial shape.  Hyaluronic acid particles are biocompatible and biodegradable, meaning our bodies dissolve them over 6 - 12 months.  Our office uses reputable brands distributed in the USA, such as Restylane and Revanesse Versa.

Bellafill

Bellafill is composed of bovine collagen and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres. PMMA is a biocompatible substance that is used in artificial joints and intraocular lenses. The PMMA microspheres form a scaffold in the skin that stimulates collagen production while providing structural support for the newly formed collagen. Bellafill has results lasting for 5 years and is currently the longest lasting FDA-approved filler.

Bellafill can be placed in the temples, smile lines, cheeks, side of our faces, jawline, and chin. Like the other collagen-stimulating fillers, diluted Bellafill can also be used in other regions of the body to prevent and treat loose skin. Bellafill is also the only FDA-approved dermal filler for the correction of moderate to severe atrophic acne scars by adding volume below the pitted scars.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is autologous blood plasma with a high concentration of platelets and growth factors.  PRP is prepared by centrifugation of blood drawn from the patient before the procedure.

Many clinical studies have indicated that PRP is a promising treatment for thinning hair - male and female pattern hair loss (androgenic alopecia) and alopecia areata.  PRP growth factors promote hair regrowth by:

  • stimulating stem cell differentiation of hair follicles,

  • prolonging the anagen phase (hair growing phase) of hair follicles

  • promoting new blood vessel formation around hair follicles

Combining PRP injections with other hair restoration treatments, such as finasteride (male patients), spironolactone (female patients), minoxidil,  may enhance the overall efficacy.
